PROGRAMS
At A Child’s Reflection, we use a blended approach that takes the best practices among various educational approaches. The nationally recognized Frog Street curriculum forms the core curriculum, however. The Frog Street Pre-K curriculum is accepted by Texas Education Agency (TEA) for Pre-K classes and is used by both Katy ISD and Houston ISD.
Frog Street is a comprehensive, research-based program that integrates instruction across developmental domains and early learning disciplines. Our classrooms will not only challenge your child, but we will prepare them for public education and beyond. We also use Handwriting Without Tears and components of The Pinnacle Curriculum. Note that Frog Street also has a Spanish Language component that we use.
All of the curriculum and programs are aimed at one thing - igniting the minds of young children by fostering their academic, social and emotional growth through purposeful lessons and materials that intentionally produce a positive outcome.
Through play, we also seek to promote the cognitive, emotional, social and physical growth of each child within a nurturing atmosphere. We will also encourage your child to develop an appreciation for the arts by offering many types of enrichment programs.
We strongly believe in Learning Through Play. While your child will be very well prepared academically for the transition to Kindergarten, we are not strictly an academic school. We believe that listening skills, social skills and respect for peers and adults are necessary traits for a child to succeed in Kindergarten.
Developmental Goals & Ratios
Nursery One
Nursery One works on developing the basic gross motor skills for infants. Teachers also work on increasing verbal communication by constantly talking and singing to the children. Infants are introduced to the basics of baby sign language to help communicate when they are hungry or tired.
Nursery Two
Nursery Two infants will work on many skills, especially fine motor by doing activities such as art and learning to feed themselves. This class involves many transitions such a sleeping on a cot instead of in a crib and drinking from a sippy cup instead of a bottle.
Toddler
Toddler promotes social skills such as sharing, using words to express feelings/needs, and potty training. This group will begin to sit daily for circle time to learn about shapes and colors. They also begin to learn about playing in learning centers and being responsible for one’s own things.
Early Pre-School
Early Pre-School students will increase their communication skills. They will also work on basic academics such as recognizing their name in print, counting, prepositions, sorting/matching, and repeating simple songs and rhymes.
Pres-School
Pre-School children will work on beginning reading skills such as letter recognition and phonics sounds in addition to early math skills including one to one correspondence and patterns. They will continue to play in learning centers and do daily art projects.
Pre-Kindergarten
Pre-Kindergarten will prepare your child for kindergarten by building upon the skills they have already obtained. They will even get to take field trips that will reinforce their weekly learning themes.
In addition to the academics, there is still time for learning centers, art, and group games to encourage the continued development of social skills.

The children also work throughout the summer to develop an end of summer carnival for the younger children in the school which includes games, prizes and activities. Our in-house field trips include water slides, bouncy obstacle courses, reptile shows and specialized art activities. Our external field trips include trips to museums, swimming, skating, movies, laser tag, bowling, a variety of parks, ceramics and other fun places.
Summer camp tuition includes the price of field trips. Spots are limited and do fill up quickly.
